Hidden Pond Day Camp at The Rinx

Things to Know About Hidden Pond Day Camp

1.  We have been meeting the individual needs of children for over two decades.  It was started in 1992 as part of The Rinx Facility.  Our first summer season was 1993.

Enrollment:  At any given time approx. 500 campers on campus

Size:  Approx. 97 acres

Multiple Programs:

  • Full day Program
  • Half-day Program (3/4yrs old Only)
  • C.I.T. (Counselor-in-Training)
  • Flexible weekly enrollment (1 week to 8 weeks)
  • 3, 4 and 5 day programs available

Lunch and Snack are provided daily

2.  Hidden Pond is a private American Camp Association (ACA) Accredited Day Camp that provides a safe and secure environment for all campers.

  • There are over 250 safety and program standards that must be met before accreditation is given
  • This is far above what is require by New York State Department of Health.

3.  Hidden Pond Day Camp is ahead of the curve on many issues dealing with camper development

  • Focus on 21st Century Skills - The Four C's (Creativity, Critical Thinking, Collaboration and Communication)
  • Focus on Grit - determination, perseverance, and resiliency.

4. Additional general information and safety precautions:

  • All visitors must be checked in at the main office and obtain a visitors pass and be escorted by a Division Head
  • All staff wear uniforms
  • Parents must sign out their child at the end of each day
  • Emergency numbers, Security Code, and e-mail address are required
  • All late arrivals and early pick-ups must be signed in or signed out in the Camp Office
  • Our Nurse and EMT are always centrally located on campus with walkie-talkie radios
  • Security Staff Monitors the campus all day

5.  Hidden Pond always provides innovative and cutting-edge programming that creates fun and excitement.

***Hidden Pond gives children an opportunity to be exposed to a multitude of activities that they may not be able to otherwise experience.

  • Low Ropes Challenge Course with a "Zip Line".
  • High Ropes Course with a "Swing Shot"
  • Indoor Climbing Wall
  • Go-Carts/Razor Scooters
  • Gamers Den (PS2's and Game Cubes with 32 inch Flat screen TV's)
  • All types of Creative and Performing Arts Activities with a Full Play Production and "Acting Clinic"
  • Archery Range
  • Ice Skating on our Two Indoor NHL size Ice rinks (The first camp on Long Island with 2 indoor NHL size Ice Rinks)
  • 3 Heated Pools (including an Olympic size - fifty meters x 3.5 ft deep - heated pool)
  • Separate diving pool- 13 feet deep - two 1 meter boards
  • Ga-ga Ball, Spikeball
  • STEM Program - (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)
  • Nature Activities include - "EDUCACHING" and Nature Discovery - Activity Stations
  • 7th and 8th grade Elective Program, Athletic Tournaments
  • 5th and 6th grade Creative and Performing Arts Elective, Tournaments
  • 7th and 8th grade trips
  • All types of Athletic Instruction

6.  Hidden Pond has a low camper - counselor ration

  • 3/4-year-old Half Day 3:1
  • Kindergarten/4yrs 4:1
  • 1st grade 6:1
  • 2nd grade and up 8:1

8.  A Reading program is offered after camp hours; utilizing the Wilson System (Remedial and Enrichment available).
