The Rinx Preschool Opening Plan

Hello our Wonderful Preschool Families!

I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their summer. I know this upcoming school year is quickly approaching and everyone is anxiously waiting to see what the new school year will look like for your little one.

I can ensure you The Rinx Preschool will be following all NYSDOH guidelines/regulations to provide a safe and nurturing space for your child to thrive and learn. If you’d like to view the guidelines put out for Day Care, you can do so at the following website:

https://ocfs.ny.gov/main/news/2020/COVID-2020Jun26-Day-Camp-Detailed-Guidelines.pdf

A few changes you will see for the upcoming year are as follows:

Signing In and Out:

  • Signing in/out will be done in the Main Lobby of the Rinx Building. This is to ensure we have ample space to social distance all of our families. Your child’s class will be in the same spot daily to sign in and out.
  • Temperatures will be taken upon arrival of the child and parent/guardian dropping off by the teacher. The assistant will keep the signed in children occupied while awaiting the full class.
  • Masks must be worn by parent/guardian dropping off as they interact with the staff members.

Hygiene/sanitizing:

  • Staff members will be wearing a mask at all times while interacting with children.
  • Children are not required to wear masks at this time.
  • Staff and children will be washing hands at the following times: upon arrival, before/after eating lunch and snack, after leaving an activity (ex: playroom/playground) and after using the bathroom.
  • Common areas such as the playroom, playground and the bathrooms will be sanitized in between classes and prior to another class being allowed to use that area.
  • Supplies: we are requesting that parents send in a supply box for their child. The Preschool will fill that box with supplies to be used by your child only, ex: their own crayons, markers, scissors, play-doh etc.
  • Tables within the classrooms will be sanitized in between uses and before and after eating.
  • Toys in the classroom will be sanitized at the end of each day. Toys in the playroom will be sanitized between classes.

Activities:

  • Before and Aftercare will not be offered. Unfortunately for the time being we are not able to mix groups of children from different classes.
  • Ice-Skating will not be offered at this time as we must limit the children’s exposure to additional staff members. This is due to the interaction needed between the instructor and the children on the ice.
  • Gross Motor/Library: We will be able to offer Gross Motor with the designated specialist keeping a minimum of 6ft away from the class while teaching each class. The assistant teacher will be responsible for assisting the children during these activities.
  • In-class activities: the children will be able to interact and play with one another within their class.
  • Special Events: special events will not be taking place for the time being, as large gatherings are not permitted at this time. Ex: Spooktacular, Thanksgiving Feast etc. (*Our school calendar still has these dates marked as special events, they will be a “typical school day” until we are able to offer special events including our families).
    • Unfortunately this also includes our Meet the Teacher Day which was scheduled for September 10th and 11th. I know this is an important event where your child would be able to meet their teacher. We will have your child’s teacher contact you and your family prior to school starting, whether it is a phone call or a zoom session.

These are some of the changes you can expect for the upcoming school year. Please look forward to your child becoming part of The Rinx Preschool Family. Your child will be singing songs, reading stories, participating in circle time, forming friendships and so much more.

If you have ANY questions/concerns about the upcoming year PLEASE do not hesitate to ask!

We are all in this together and together will make this a WONDERFUL year for you and your children!

Thank you,

Kim and Lorraine
